INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP: Remix your Archive

Saturday, October 3, 2026
1:00 – 4:00 pm

Public event; registration required

Remix Your Archive is a hands-on creative workshop series inspired by the work of mixed media artist, xtine burrough, led by Anne Balsamo, the founder of 7 Moons Media Studios.

The workshop series invites participants to ask: What stories stories get archived? What does absence reveal? And how can remixing become an act of care, preservation, and cultural recovery?

October 3, 2026: Introductory Workshop. This session introduces the notion of a “living archive.” Where we consider the archive not as a fixed collection of evidence, but as an active, imaginative space for storytelling and memory.

WORKSHOP SERIES

After attending the Introductory Workshop, Participants are invited to register for the three-session workshop series that will take place over the following weeks.

October 10, 2026: Session One in the series provides direction for participants in gathering of personal materials and family mementos. Using provided archival fragments, participants will create stories that resonnate with their own living archive. Attendees will experiment with collage, annotation, sequencing, and digital reproduction of materials in different media forms.

October 17, 2026: Session Two invites participants to bring in personal archive materials to discuss ideas for story-finding and story-creation. We provide direction on augmenting the living archive using public-domain sources, public archive materials, and digital enhancements.

October 24, 2026: Session Three is dedicated to the final production of story created from a personal, living archive, in a form that can be shared with family and friends.

No prior artistic or archival experience is required—only curiosity and a willingness to work with fragments.
